Two Zuckerman Spaeder LLP attorneys will moderate sessions at the American Bar Association’s (ABA) 26th Annual National Institute on White Collar Crime.
- Thursday, March 1 (3:45 pm)—Indemnification for Legal Costs Under D&O Policies in Formal and Voluntary Disclosure Cases
William A. Schreiner Jr. will moderate this breakout session analyzing issues confronting companies and lawyers when dealing with directors and officers (D&O) insurance policies in the context of criminal cases and investigations, and consider practical steps for resolving some of the obstacles that arise frequently in the D&O claims process. Counsel in Zuckerman Spaeder’s Insurance Practice, Mr. Schreiner represents directors, officers, and companies seeking coverage under D&O liability policies. He frequently writes articles and speaks on D&O policies and other subjects related to insurance law. He has also taught “Insurance Law for Litigators and Corporate Lawyers” as an adjunct lecturer at the Columbus School of Law at Catholic University since 2008.
- Friday, March 2 (9:15 am)—Prosecution of Attorneys in Connection with Providing Legal Advice
Morris “Sandy” Weinberg Jr. will moderate this panel exploring the recent prosecution of the associate general counsel of GlaxoSmithKline and other related investigations and prosecutions of attorneys with respect to the advice they provided, including the challenges of serving as an in-house counsel in a justice system with so many criminal statutes and regulations. Mr. Weinberg has more than 35 years of experience as a federal prosecutor and private practitioner. Mr. Weinberg has been recognized in numerous industry rankings, including Chambers USA, The Best Lawyers in America, Benchmark Litigation, International Who’s Who of Business Lawyers, Super Lawyers, and Florida Trend’s “Legal Elite”; in 2009, he received the Hillsborough County Bar Association’s highest honor for criminal practitioners, the “In the Trenches” Award. He currently serves on the ABA Criminal Justice Section Council, and previously co-chaired the ABA White Collar Crime Committee and chaired the Criminal Justice Section Task Force on Brady Practices. He is the managing partner of Zuckerman Spaeder’s Tampa office.
