Semra A. Mesulam focuses her practice on white collar criminal matters and complex civil disputes.
Prior to joining Zuckerman Spaeder, Ms. Mesulam was an associate at Debevoise & Plimpton LLP in New York, where she represented clients in commercial litigation, matters arising under public international law, and white collar criminal investigations involving the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. She also maintained an active pro bono practice, which included representation of several detainees at the U.S. Naval Station at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba.
After law school, Ms. Mesulam was a Fulbright Scholar in Rwanda, where she taught comparative law at the National University of Rwanda and researched post-genocide legal reform. Ms. Mesulam served as a law clerk to the Honorable Juan R. Torruella of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. During law school, Ms. Mesulam was a legal intern for the Office of the Prosecutor for the United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda.
