In reality, diversity doesn’t just happen. It requires steadfast commitment and a culture of support. At Zuckerman Spaeder, it is at the core of what we believe. When you look around our offices, you see a collection of the very best attorneys and professionals. They come from many different cultural, ethnic, religious, racial, social and geographic backgrounds. We know that having a team that closely reflects the communities where we live and work gives us the benefit of broad perspective. That diverse perspective, in turn, enables us to find innovative, often groundbreaking, solutions to our clients’ challenges.
We are proud of our record of diversity and are committed to continuing to promote that diversity, through our recruitment and retention efforts, through firm culture, through the firm's emphasis on training and professional development, and by supporting minority bar and community organizations.
Our first female partner joined the firm as an associate in 1979, our first Hispanic partner joined as an associate in 1987 and our first African-American partner joined us in 2005. As of July 31, 2008, 31% of our partners and of counsel nationwide were women, as were 54% of our associates. Not only are women well-represented in the partner ranks, they also serve in high positions in firm management.
While we are proud of our accomplishments, we recognize that our continued success requires constant attention. It is a high priority for firm management.
