Elizabeth G. Taylor is an experienced litigator with a varied practice that includes criminal and civil investigations, trials, and appeals across the country. She also counsels businesses and individuals hoping to resolve problems short of litigation.

Ms. Taylor regularly defends individuals, corporations, partnerships, and other entities against federal criminal charges in matters involving Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, RICO, bribery, and fraud. She has experience representing health care companies, and has performed internal investigations concerning false claims and anti-kickback issues. Among her clients are also lawyers and law firms in matters related to business practices and ethics and in defense of legal malpractice claims. She also counsels individuals on a variety of issues, including defamation based on political, religious, and other reasons.

Before joining Zuckerman Spaeder, Ms. Taylor worked for the District of Columbia’s Public Defender Service and on the investigation of former Secretary of Agriculture Mike Espy. She previously clerked for the Honorable Harry A. Blackmun, then associate justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, and for the Honorable Frank M. Coffin, then the chief judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals, 1st Circuit.

Ms. Taylor previously taught criminal law at the Georgetown University Law Center. She lectures on ethics issues for the District of Columbia Bar and has served on the District of Columbia Board on Professional Responsibility. In 2007, she received the Distinguished Pro Bono Achievement Award from the Minority Media and Telecommunications Council.

    Experience

    • Defended a client who was acquitted in two separate trials involving tax and insurance fraud in the Western District of Virginia.
    • Currently representing a large international law firm in an ongoing malpractice matter.
    • Recently performed an internal investigation for a health care client resulting in recommendations regarding disclosure obligations.
