Recognized as one of the Washington, DC area's top lawyers under 40 by The National Law Journal and Washingtonian magazine, Eric R. Delinsky’s experience has ranged from representing some of the nation’s most prominent business leaders against allegations of fraud to the representation of institutions and companies in important civil litigation. He also has defended government officials and contractors in corruption investigations and related civil and criminal proceedings and has represented corporate officers in executive compensation disputes.
Mr. Delinsky’s practice focuses on white-collar criminal litigation and civil litigation. A former assistant federal public defender for the District of Maryland, he has significant experience in the courtroom and in pre- and post-trial strategy and tactics. He has managed both civil and criminal litigation, and tried several major cases to verdict. While a federal public defender, he defended many clients, including the former chief executive of a major aerospace manufacturing company, against white-collar criminal charges, including allegations of securities and accounting fraud, money laundering, mail and wire fraud, and tax fraud. Notably, he represented an indigent defendant facing a lengthy mandatory minimum sentence whose conviction was set aside on grounds of government misconduct. Separately, he led an effort to preserve the ability of federal judges to impose non-prison sentences on individuals convicted of white-collar offenses.
Prior to joining Zuckerman Spaeder, Mr. Delinsky spent several years at Williams & Connolly LLP, where he represented companies and individuals in both civil and criminal matters. His civil experience includes products liability, intellectual property, administrative enforcement, securities and First Amendment litigation. Mr. Delinsky also previously served as a law clerk to the Honorable Joseph L. Tauro of the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts.
For several years, Mr. Delinsky was an adjunct professor of law at his alma mater, Georgetown University Law Center, where he taught trial practice.
