Martin Himeles has earned recognition as an outstanding trial attorney and skilled advocate for his frequent successes in federal trial and appellate courts. His practice encompasses a broad and diverse mix of complex federal litigation of commercial origin, both civil and criminal. He has represented business entities and individuals in criminal investigations, winning three consecutive acquittals in complex federal criminal trials:

• He obtained the acquittal of a company accused of defrauding the Nuclear Regulatory Commission by furnishing fraudulent product test reports to qualify its product for use in nuclear power plants.
• He successfully defended a business executive charged with defrauding the RTC of millions of dollars in mortgage-backed security transactions.
• He won the acquittal of a prominent executive charged with federal campaign contribution offenses.

Mr. Himeles has achieved equally significant victories on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants in civil cases. He represented a nationally prominent attorney in litigation concerning the sharing of a fee exceeding $100 million and obtained a ground-breaking appellate decision. He has successfully represented health care institutions, government contractors, a multinational telecommunications company, a major aviation company, technology companies and professionals in complex commercial litigation. A number of his clients have been beneficiaries of trusts and estates and others in disputes regarding entitlement to trust assets, expatriation of trusts, and other trust-estate-related matters.

Before joining Zuckerman Spaeder, Mr. Himeles was an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Baltimore; he specialized in white collar prosecution and served as a law clerk for Hon Francis D. Murnaghan, Jr., of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. Mr. Himeles was selected by his peers as one of the best lawyers in the country in criminal law and business litigation and is listed in the 2003-2004 edition of The Best Lawyers in America. He was also profiled in "Who's Who in Law" in the Baltimore Business Journal on June 2, 2003.
