Thomas J. Meeks focuses his practice on complex business cases, including trade secrets and intellectual property disputes in the telecommunications and software industries, complex international and domestic commercial fraud and contract matters, maritime contract disputes, and class actions. He has represented both plaintiffs and defendants and has appeared in state and federal courts around the country at the trial and appellate level.
Having acted as lead counsel in the largest trade secrets case in Florida history, as well as a host of smaller computer and telecommunications disputes, Mr. Meeks is adept at dealing with technical issues and the intricacies of litigation management — particularly cutting-edge techniques to manage documents and evidence.
Making the most of the firm's expertise in criminal law, Mr. Meeks works closely with criminal defense and ex-prosecutor partners and draws on a cadre of investigative and other resources in his representation of clients in civil litigation matters. In appropriate situations, he has also initiated parallel criminal actions.
Mr. Meeks began his career as a law clerk in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia and, thereafter, has practiced exclusively in the area of civil litigation in South Florida. He is listed as one of the Top Lawyers in South Florida in the 2002 South Florida Legal Guide and is also listed in the Best Lawyers in America.
Mr. Meeks is admitted to practice before the Supreme Courts of Florida and Georgia, the United States Court of Federal Claims, and numerous federal district and appeals courts.
