Paul Calli practices primarily white collar criminal defense in Zuckerman Spaeder's Miami office. Mr. Calli spent the early years of his career in a courtroom, having tried more than sixty cases to verdict as an Assistant State Public Defender and then as an Assistant Federal Public Defender in Miami, Florida.

Since joining the firm in 2000, Mr. Calli has continued to focus his practice in the area of criminal law. His practice now focuses on the defense of white collar grand jury investigations and prosecutions, such as labor and union disputes, health care regulatory issues, federal environmental matters, Department of Defense and other government contracts, federal antitrust, securities and election law cases, banking transactions, and tax controversies. He represents physicians, attorneys, accountants, business owners and other professionals, professional athletes and publicly traded companies in the health care, cruise-line, gaming, manufacturing, and aviation industries. He is experienced in grand jury investigations, administrative proceedings, and at trial. Mr. Calli also represents businesses and individuals during the regulatory and investigative process, communicating extensively with government regulators or investigators in connection with the investigation and prosecution of fraud and other misconduct committed against his clients.

Mr. Calli also handles complex appeals and has presented oral arguments before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. Federal and state appellate courts have published four written opinions impacting important areas in criminal law in cases handled by Mr. Calli.

Mr. Calli is active in bar leadership roles. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers - Miami Chapter, having been elected to this third consecutive term. Mr. Calli is currently serving a three-year term on the Florida Bar's Grievance Committee 11-B, reviewing and investigating allegations of professional misconduct filed against attorneys.

Mr. Calli received Martindale Hubbell's highest rating for legal ability and ethical standards, was named "Up and Comer" in the 2004 South Florida Legal Guide, "Best Up and Coming Attorney" in Florida Trend's "2004 Legal Elite," and as "Best of the Bar" in the 2003 South Florida Business Journal.
