Jack Fernandez concentrates his practice on civil and white collar criminal litigation. He has extensive experience in health care litigation, including medical malpractice and nursing home liability for elder neglect, and commercial litigation.
Before joining the firm, Mr. Fernandez was a shareholder with Bavol Bush & Sisco, P.A. From 1992 to 1998, he served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Florida, where he investigated, tried, and argued appeals in numerous complex federal cases, including health care fraud, espionage, arson, federal securities fraud, satellite signal piracy and trade secrets. He also served on the U.S. Attorney’s Health Care Fraud Task Force.
As a law student at Cornell Law School, Mr. Fernandez served as editor in chief of the Cornell Law Review. After law school, he clerked for the Honorable J. Dickson Phillips, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
Before law school, Mr. Fernandez piloted an F-14 Tomcat while stationed aboard the USS Independence. He flew numerous combat missions in support of the U.S. Army and Marine Corps in Grenada and the Multinational Force in Beirut.
Mr. Fernandez is a member of the Defense Research Institute, the Federal Bar Association, and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He served on the 13th Judicial Circuit Grievance Committee from 1999 until 2001.
