Simon Gaugush concentrates his practice on white collar criminal litigation and general civil litigation. Before joining the firm, he was Assistant District Counsel in the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Bureau of Immigration & Customs Enforcement, where he litigated all types of matters before the U.S. Immigration Court. He was appointed "Special-Interest-Attorney" to litigate cases involving aliens in Virginia and the District of Columbia who were suspected of being linked to terrorism, persecution and human rights abuses, or serious criminal offenses.
Mr. Gaugush's professional experience includes positions with the U.S. Department of Justice, the Federal Public Defender's Office, the U.S. House of Representatives, and The White House. In 2002, he conducted refugee processing in Kenya, and in 2001 he was honored with the "New Attorney of the Year" award by the INS Commissioner.
In 1997, Mr. Gaugush received his B.A. in Law & Society, cum laude, from American University, and he earned his law degree from Vanderbilt University School of Law in 2000. He is admitted to practice in Florida. Mr. Gaugush is also a Pupil in the Justice William Glenn Terrell Inn of Court.
