Class Actions and Derivative Litigation
Zuckerman Spaeder holds a unique position of serving as both plaintiff's and defense counsel. We are one of the few firms who regularly handle large-scale, national class action suits.
Currently we are handling several high-profile class action lawsuits, including:
- defending USAA in two cases seeking national certification for alleged failure to credit for PIP overcharges in one matter, and failure to pay for diminished value in the other
- defending MCI in a nationwide class action involving billing issues
- defending CIGNA in the Florida portion of a national class action involving overcharges for worker's compensation pool coverage
- defending Prudential in a suit by health care providers and subscribers alleging fraudulent over-billing
In addition, the firm recently defended these clients:
- the officers and directors of the former Southeast Bank for alleged malfeasance and securities violations
- 3M in a class action based on an allegedly defective marine water barrier product
- an industry-wide class of reinsurers in a RICO case
