James Sottile’s practice focuses on issues affecting the insurance industry. He has represented the Lloyd’s Underwriters reinsured by Equitas in settling more than $2.5 billion of insurance coverage claims, including major settlements with Honeywell, Halliburton, and Babcock & Wilcox. Mr. Sottile also provides strategic advice to the London Insurance Market and other foreign insurers on many of the insurance coverage issues he regularly litigates, such as asbestos, silica, pollution, and lead paint.
An experienced trial lawyer, Mr. Sottile has tried a wide range of complex cases involving insurance coverage, professional malpractice, securities fraud, and other areas. This includes mass tort litigation in the areas of asbestos litigation and related insurance coverage issues.
Mr. Sottile has been named a notable insurance practitioner in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Business Lawyers since 2006 and in the eighth edition of the Guide to the World’s Leading Insurance & Reinsurance Lawyers.
