Lisa Barclay practices in the areas of complex civil litigation, professional responsibility and legal ethics, and food and drug law. During her time at Zuckerman Spaeder LLP, Ms. Barclay has represented a variety of clients, including individual attorneys and law firms, generic pharmaceutical companies and other corporations, as well as nonprofit organizations.
Ms. Barclay regularly advises lawyers and law firms on matters involving professional ethics requirements and compliance, conflicts of interest, confidentiality, fee disputes, partner departures, and law firm break-ups. Ms. Barclay also frequently counsels individual lawyers and law firms with regard to attorney admissions and disciplinary issues. As a member of Zuckerman Spaeder’s Legal Profession and Ethics Practice, Ms. Barclay has spoken on ethics issues at numerous seminars for lawyers and law firms.
In addition to her work for law firms, Ms. Barclay draws from her experience at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in representing a range of clients on food and drug issues. She has represented generic pharmaceutical companies, nonprofit organizations, and individuals in litigation, and has also counseled these clients on regulatory matters.
Prior to joining Zuckerman Spaeder, Ms. Barclay clerked for Senior Judge William B. Bryant, U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, and practiced civil litigation in the Washington, DC office of Weil, Gotshal & Manges, LLP. From 1995-2001, she worked in the Office of the Commissioner at the FDA.

Represented a generic manufacturer that obtained a $3 million payment as compensation for lost profits during a temporary restraining order that prevented the FDA from approving the client’s generic version of a popular allergy drug.
