Co-sponsored by the Joint Committee on Employee Benefits, the 2026 ERISA Basics National Institute will feature a comprehensive introduction to the complex world of ERISA and employee benefits law. This program will provide an opportunity for in-house and union counsel, benefits specialists, private practitioners, litigators, and consultants to hear from ERISA experts on comprehensive ERISA topics, key cases, and ongoing litigation trends.
Partner Caroline Reynolds will speak on a panel entitled, “Federal Regulation of Health Plans” on Tuesday, April 14 from 12:00 – 1:00 pm. The panel will present a brief high-level introduction to the many federal laws and regulations impacting employee welfare benefit plans such as COBRA, HIPAA, the Affordable Care Act, MHPAEA, ADA, GINA, CAA transparency and the No Surprises Act. The presenters will then discuss in more depth several of those laws and regulations raising current concerns for welfare plans, for example, compliance with the Consolidated Appropriations Act (CAA) No Surprises Act or the MHPAEA parity audits
