This event is focused on recognizing the community’s efforts to provide access to critical legal services for innocent individuals who have been wrongly convicted. Since MAIP’s start in 2000, the organization has have helped secure the release or exoneration of 45 men in the D.C., Maryland, and Virginia area. By working with prosecutors, law enforcement, crime labs, and numerous pro bono volunteers, MAIP has been instrumental in the passage of nearly two dozen laws that would prevent or make it easier to correct wrongful convictions.
