Press Release

The Daily Record has named Zuckerman Spaeder partner Gregg L. Bernstein to the 2026 MD500, recognizing him as one of Maryland’s most influential individuals.

The MD500 is The Daily Record’s definitive list of leaders shaping Maryland’s business, legal, financial, health care, and civic communities. Introduced this year, the MD500 replaces the publication’s longstanding Power Lists and Power 100 with a single statewide recognition program.

Bernstein, who is recognized in the Criminal Law category, represents individuals and organizations in high-stakes criminal and civil litigation, government investigations, and complex enforcement matters. A former federal prosecutor and elected Baltimore City state’s attorney, he has more than 30 years of experience prosecuting and defending clients facing government scrutiny, reputational risk, and other significant legal consequences.

Bernstein’s recent work includes securing a Maryland Supreme Court ruling that reinforced the protections afforded by grand jury secrecy. Bernstein represented individuals who had not been charged with crimes but whom the Maryland Attorney General’s Office sought to identify in a public report based substantially on grand jury materials. The court held that the state could not disclose their identities, affirming that grand jury proceedings cannot be used to publicly accuse uncharged individuals without a legitimate purpose.

The Daily Record will feature MD500 honorees throughout the year.
