Leadership in Law Award, The Daily Record, 2013

Martin S. Himeles, Jr., managing partner of Zuckerman Spaeder LLP’s Baltimore office, was named a winner of The Daily Record’s 2013 Leadership in Law Award. The Leadership in Law Award honors Maryland legal professionals—lawyers and judges—whose dedication to their occupation and to their communities deserves particular recognition.

Mr. Himeles has more than 30 years of experience in a broad range of civil and criminal matters, as a federal prosecutor and a private practitioner representing corporations and individuals. An active leader in the Baltimore legal community, he is currently a member of the Equal Justice Council (the fundraising arm of Maryland Legal Aid), in addition to serving on the board of directors of the Francis D. Murnaghan Appellate Advocacy Fellowship. He is a past president of the Maryland Chapter of the Federal Bar Association. On the national level, he is co-chair of the Health Care Fraud Substantive Committee of the American Bar Association White Collar Crime Committee.

For many years, Mr. Himeles has been a leader in Baltimore’s Jewish community, holding positions in organizations that fill important roles in the community. He is a past president of the Baltimore Chapter of the American Jewish Committee and has served on the board of the Associated: Jewish Community Federation of Baltimore, the Baltimore Jewish Council, and Levindale Hebrew Geriatric Center and Hospital, among other positions. Currently, Mr. Himeles is a member of the Baltimore Steering Committee of the American Jewish Committee and represents the committee as a member of the Baltimore Israel Coalition.

The Leadership in Law Award is the most recent of Mr. Himeles’ numerous awards and honors. He is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers; has been listed for 10 consecutive years in The Best Lawyers in America, in diverse practice areas including at present bet-the-company litigation, commercial litigation, white-collar criminal defense, and securities litigation; and is also listed in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business, and as a “Litigation Star” in the Benchmark Litigation guide. He has also been profiled in the Baltimore Business Journal’s “Who’s Who in Law,” among other publications.
