Press Release

The District of Columbia Bar Board of Governors has appointed Zuckerman Spaeder partner Margarita K. O’Donnell to serve on the D.C. Judicial Nomination Commission (JNC). In this role, she joins fellow commissioners in evaluating, selecting, and recommending candidates for appointment to the Superior Court of the District of Columbia and the District of Columbia Court of Appeals to the President of the United States. The JNC also appoints the chief judges for both courts.

“I’m honored to serve on the Commission and to contribute to a process that is essential to maintaining a strong judiciary in the District of Columbia,” said Ms. O’Donnell.

Ms. O’Donnell has a long-standing commitment to public service in D.C. Prior to Zuckerman Spaeder, Ms. O’Donnell was a trial attorney with the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia. Ms. O’Donnell focuses her practice on white collar criminal defense, investigations, and complex civil litigation. She represents individuals and companies in government investigations, enforcement actions, and high-stakes disputes. While she maintains an active pro bono practice, she also serves as co-chair of the firm’s pro bono practice.

In addition to her client work, Ms. O’Donnell is deeply engaged in the legal community, including serving as co-chair of the American Bar Association’s National Institute on White Collar Crime, a member of the Hispanic Bar Association for the District of Columbia, and a board member of Rising for Justice.
