Pro Bono Practice Co-Chair Margarita O’Donnell Named to D.C. Bar Foundation’s Young Lawyers Network Leadership Council

Zuckerman Spaeder LLP is pleased to announce that partner Margarita K. O’Donnell has been selected as a member of the D.C. Bar Foundation’s Young Lawyers Network Leadership Council (YLN LC). The YLN LC works to “further the goal of access to justice within the community,” by serving “as ambassadors in order to promote DCBF’s mission and programs and to help raise additional resources to support local legal aid organizations.”

Ms. O’Donnell is an experienced trial attorney who focuses on white collar criminal defense and civil matters, representing individuals and corporations in government investigations, criminal prosecutions, and complex civil disputes. She is also a committed advocate of public service and serves as co-chair of Zuckerman Spaeder’s Pro Bono practice, along with partner Steven N. Herman. Through the firm’s Pro Bono practice, Ms. O’Donnell supervises or leads pro bono cases that are delivering justice for individuals, fighting institutionalized racism, advancing equity in the criminal justice system, and ensuring legal protections for immigrants.

This year, Zuckerman Spaeder’s Pro Bono practice was named to the National Law Journal’s Pro Bono Hotlist. In the publication’s article about the award, Ms. O’Donnell discussed the significance of this work, explaining that the firm “provides critical opportunities to promote justice and the rule of law by helping disadvantaged clients” – actions that directly parallel the mission of the YLN LC.

Ms. O’Donnell says she will use her two-year term on the YLN LC to expand “her support for public interest and legal aid organizations and create and maintain pathways to justice in the District of Columbia.”
