Pro Bono Service Award, Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division, 2015
Zuckerman Spaeder LLP associate Sara L.A. Lawson was recently awarded the 2015 Young Lawyers Division Pro Bono Service Award, a prestigious annual award given to one attorney in the state by the Florida Bar.
Each year, the Florida Supreme Court and the Florida Bar give special recognition to lawyers, groups and a member of the judiciary who have freely given their time and expertise in making legal services available to the poor. The Young Lawyers Division Pro Bono Service Award specifically recognizes the public service or legal aid performed by a lawyer who is under 36 years old or has not practiced for more than five years in any jurisdiction.
An associate in the firm’s Tampa office, Ms. Lawson received the award for her work with two Florida organizations—Crossroads for Florida Kids, Inc. and Bay Area Legal Services, Inc. In her practice with the firm, she represents individual and institutional clients in criminal and civil litigation, and government investigations. She has significant experience defending individuals and companies in all types of government investigations, including those involving health care, foreign exports, real estate, and international business. Ms. Lawson is a graduate of the University of Maryland School of Law, and she received her B.A. in Political Science from The Johns Hopkins University.
