Washington Supreme Court Grants Cert in Domestic Violence Case

On September 8, 2004, the Washington State Supreme Court granted the petition to review an unprecedented appellate court ruling that penalized the victim of domestic violence for seeking court protection from her abusive husband. Zuckerman Spaeder attorneys Eleanor Smith and David Byrd submitted an amicus brief in support of the petition for review on behalf of two dozen national and state domestic violence advocacy organizations. Following briefing on the merits, the Washington State Supreme Court will hear oral arguments on October 28, 2004.
