Zuckerman Spaeder Attorney Sandy Weinberg Honored with “Outstanding Pro Bono Service by a Lawyer” Award

Zuckerman Spaeder LLP is pleased to announce that Morris “Sandy” Weinberg Jr., senior counsel and founder of the firm’s Tampa office, was honored with the “Outstanding Pro Bono Service by a Lawyer” award at the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit 2025 Pro Bono Service Awards ceremony on May 14. This recognition celebrates Mr. Weinberg’s significant contribution to pro bono legal services in 2024.
With five decades of legal experience, Mr. Weinberg is well-known for representing individuals and companies in high-profile criminal cases, including health care fraud, government contract fraud, securities fraud, and tax fraud. Throughout his career, he has consistently demonstrated a commitment to justice beyond his professional obligations.
In 2012, he and his wife, Rosemary Armstrong, co-founded Crossroads for Florida Kids, a nonprofit organization that provides pro bono legal services for disadvantaged Hillsborough County's children in dependency, delinquency, truancy, and some criminal cases. Since the founding of the organization, Mr. Weinberg and his Tampa-based colleagues have represented more than 30 children.
“Sandy’s unwavering dedication to pro bono service is an inspiration to all of us at the firm,” said Zuckerman Spaeder pro bono co-chair Margarita K. O'Donnell. “He exemplifies the principle that great lawyering is not just about advocacy in the courtroom but about showing up for the most vulnerable members of our communities who need help the most. We are incredibly proud of his well-deserved recognition.”
Mr. Weinberg’s commitment to pro bono work reflects Zuckerman Spaeder’s broader dedication to serving the community and highlights the profound impact that legal professionals can have on their communities. In 2024 alone, team members in the firm’s Tampa office devoted over 700 hours to pro bono engagements.
In the past year, Zuckerman Spaeder’s Tampa office received the “Outstanding Pro Bono Service by a Law Firm” award from the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit of Florida, and attorney Lisa M. Kilbride was awarded the prestigious Florida Bar President’s 2025 Pro Bono Service Award for the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit.
