Zuckerman Spaeder LLP Partner Jack E. Fernandez Appointed to Florida Judicial Nomination Commission

Gov. Charlie Crist has appointed Zuckerman Spaeder LLP partner Jack E. Fernandez to Florida’s Thirteenth Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission. Mr. Fernandez’s term began August 20 and ends July 1, 2014. The Thirteenth Judicial Circuit presides over Hillsborough County.

“It is an honor to serve the State of Florida and Hillsborough County,” said Mr. Fernandez. “I take seriously the responsibility of identifying the best legal practitioners to recommend for judgeships.”

Mr. Fernandez is a partner in the Tampa office of Zuckerman Spaeder and leads the firm’s Health Care Fraud Practice. He concentrates on state and federal white collar criminal defense and False Claims Act litigation, principally for clients in the health care industry who confront allegations of fraud. Before entering private practice, Mr. Fernandez served as an assistant U.S. attorney in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, where he investigated, tried, and argued appeals in numerous complex federal cases, including matters related to health care fraud and the False Claims Act.
