Zuckerman Spaeder LLP Partner Paula M. Junghans Receives 2010 Tax Excellence Award from the Taxation Section of the Maryland State Bar Association
Paula M. Junghans, a partner in Zuckerman Spaeder LLP’s Washington, DC office, received the 2010 Tax Excellence Award from the Taxation Section of the Maryland State Bar Association (MSBA). MSBA presents this award annually to an attorney, law school professor, public official, or member of the judiciary who exemplifies professional, academic, or public service excellence, integrity, compassion, and commitment in the areas of practicing, teaching, or developing tax law or tax policy.
“Paula’s practice has contributed significantly to the growth of the white collar defense and civil tax litigation practices at the firm, and we congratulate her on this well-deserved recognition,” said Zuckerman Spaeder chairman Graeme W. Bush.
Ms. Junghans has more than 30 years of experience in federal tax litigation and white collar criminal matters. She has the unique perspective of having served both as a defense lawyer and a supervising prosecutor, and having tried both civil and criminal cases throughout the United States. As a prosecutor and Acting Assistant Attorney General of the Tax Division of the Department of Justice, she supervised the litigation of tax cases throughout the United States. In her current practice at Zuckerman Spaeder, she draws on her experience in tax procedure, as well as in the interrelationship between criminal and civil tax issues, to counsel individuals and businesses on complex investigations and prosecutions.
Ms. Junghans is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, the American College of Tax Counsel, and is listed in The Best Lawyers in America, Who's Who Legal: The International Who's Who of Business Lawyers, and Washingtonian magazine’s 2007 list of the area’s “30 Best Lawyers.”
