Pro Bono Matters, Fourth Edition

Over the past five calendar years, Zuckerman Spaeder LLP has worked mightily to improve access to and fairness of justice in the United States. We are pleased to share with you here our Pro Bono Matters newsletter that describes our pro bono legal services, charitable giving, and community service from 2009 through 2013.

Too recent for this newsletter are honors received by Zuckerman Spaeder and individual firm attorneys in early 2014 for pro bono service. This spring the firm received the Pro Bono Law Firm of the Year Award from the 13th Judicial District of Florida; Baltimore partner Martin S. Himeles, Jr. received the Champion of Justice Award from the Equal Justice Council for his pro bono work and other service to Maryland Legal Aid, the largest provider of free civil legal help to low-income Marylanders; and Tampa associate Sara L.A. Lawson was named the Young Lawyer Pro Bono Lawyer of the Year by the 13th Judicial District of Florida. Our commitment to pro bono work has continued in all of our offices in 2014 and we expect to see more favorable outcomes for our clients.

I hope you will find this newsletter enlightening and further reason for us all to do more for the public good.

Sincerely,

Eleanor H. Smith
Partner and Pro Bono Chair
