Current Trends in Political Corruption Cases and How to Manage the Heightened Scrutiny of Defending Public Officials

Zuckerman Spaeder partner William W. Taylor III will speak at ACI’s Advanced Summit on White Collar Litigation in New York City as part of a January 23, 2013 morning panel presentation entitled “I Am Not a Crook: Current Trends in Political Corruption Cases and How to Manage the Heightened Scrutiny of Defending Public Officials”.

The panel will address current enforcement priorities, emerging theories of liability and trends from anti-corruption offices, including conspiracy, mail fraud, wire fraud, bribery, illegal gratuity, RICO, perjury, and racketeering.

Other topics include navigating the ins and outs of campaign finance investigations, handling bribes and other allegations of “selling the office”, special considerations for the increased scrutiny of a presidential election year, and an update on defending cases brought under the Hobbs Act.
