Aaron Zelinsky focuses his practice on white collar criminal defense, investigations, and complex civil litigation.

Before joining the firm, Aaron spent more than a decade as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of Maryland, where he also served as Deputy Chief of the National Security and Cybercrime Section and in the Fraud and Public Corruption Section. During his tenure, he tried 10 federal jury trials, briefed and argued appeals before the Fourth Circuit, and led numerous important cases including:

  • a $1.71 billion cryptocurrency fraud prosecution;
  • the prosecution of the CEO of a publicly traded company on allegations of securities fraud and insider trading;
  • the prosecution of an antitrust bid-rigging scheme in the intelligence IT industry;
  • the prosecution and extradition of an international fugitive for Iran sanctions violations;
  • the prosecution of an individual for fraudulent importation of goods into the U.S.;
  • the prosecution and extradition to the U.S. of a major international ransomware administrator;
  • the conviction at trial of a former Baltimore City State’s Attorney for perjury; and
  • the indictment of Russian intelligence officers charged with hacking Ukraine’s infrastructure in advance of the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Aaron also served as Assistant Special Counsel to Robert S. Mueller, III, where he led the Special Counsel Office’s investigation and prosecution of Roger Stone and George Papadopoulos.

In addition to his experience as a federal prosecutor, Aaron served as Special Assistant to U.S. State Department Legal Advisor Harold Koh, where he worked on international hostage negotiations.

After graduating from Yale Law School, Aaron served as a law clerk for the Honorable John Paul Stevens (Retired) and the Honorable Anthony M. Kennedy of the U.S. Supreme Court, and the Honorable Thomas Griffith of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.
