Jacobus P. van der Ven is an associate in the Washington, DC office of Zuckerman Spaeder.

Before joining the firm, Cobus held multiple positions at the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), including Acting Deputy Chief of Staff and Senior Counsel to the Associate Attorney General and, before that, Counsel to the Assistant Attorney General of the Antitrust Division. He was previously an associate at a national law firm, where he represented companies in antitrust litigation. Cobus clerked for the Honorable James E. Boasberg of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia and the Honorable William J. Kayatta, Jr. of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.


Cobus graduated from Yale Law School, where he served as Notes Editor of the Yale Law Journal.
