Josh T. Mathew focuses his practice on complex civil litigation, including antitrust, health care, and insurance coverage matters.
Drawing upon international consulting experience, his military background, and two clerkships, Josh brings a business mindset, strong leadership skills, and a team player mentality to each of his representations. Whether taking depositions in a civil rights case, crafting compelling briefs in a class action lawsuit, or arguing in state or federal courts, Josh’s clients benefit from his talent for persuasive written and oral advocacy.
As an associate leader within the firm, Josh serves as co-chair of the Associates’ Committee. He also maintains a robust pro bono practice that focuses on wrongfully incarcerated people and military-related issues.
Before joining the firm, Josh clerked for the Honorable Ann M. Donnelly of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York and the Honorable J. Clifford Wallace of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He previously was a litigation associate at an international law firm.
Josh graduated from Harvard Law School, where he was an executive editor of the Harvard Business Law Review, Co-President of the Armed Forces Association, and a case worker for the International Refugee Assistance Project. While in law school, he participated in the Veterans Legal Clinic and the U.S. Attorney’s Clinic and was a recipient of the Dean’s Scholar Prize in those clinics.
Prior to attending law school, Josh was a strategy consultant with an American consulting firm’s office in the Middle East. He also served as an Infantry Officer and Platoon Leader in the U.S. Army. He led infantry platoons at Fort Irwin in the Mojave Desert to train units for overseas operations, and at Camp Casey near the Demilitarized Zone to prepare U.S. forces for contingency operations in the Korean Peninsula. Josh was also committed to tutoring his infantrymen and providing them with career and college counseling to support their transition to the civilian world, and he is proud to have taken care of soldiers.
