Zuckerman Spaeder Names Two New Partners: Nathan M. Berman and Steven N. Herman
Zuckerman Spaeder is pleased to announce that Nathan M. Berman and Steven N. Herman have been named partners at the firm. Mr. Berman is an experienced litigator who for many years has been an asset to the firm’s Tampa office, and Mr. Herman has been an integral part of the firm’s D.C. litigation team.
Mr. Berman has active practices in both civil and criminal law. He has represented corporations, special committees, officers and directors, and other individuals in commercial disputes, consumer litigation, securities, False Claims Act litigation, environmental litigation, professional malpractice, maritime matters and more. On the criminal side, he has represented corporations and individuals facing federal and state investigations and prosecutions in a wide variety of areas, including health care and other fraud, FCPA, securities violations, tax matters, deceptive and unfair trade practices, narcotics, and environmental crimes.
Mr. Herman’s practice focuses on representing clients in criminal and civil enforcement cases involving misconduct allegations by the Department of Justice, the Securities and Exchange Commission, and other federal agencies. His clients in complex civil litigation have included parties to breach of contract disputes, breach of fiduciary duty actions, qui tam relators, and companies in disputes with the FDA and their competitors. As a member of the firm’s pro bono committee, Mr. Herman also maintains an active pro bono practice.

Before joining Zuckerman Spaeder, Mr. Berman served as clerk to the Hon. James S. Moody Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida. He also served as clerk to the Hon. Cynthia G. Angelos of the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit of Florida. While earning his law degree, Mr. Berman served as a legal intern in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Texas and the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Washington, DC. He has been named one of The Best Lawyers in America, Commercial Litigation, White-Collar Criminal Defense, and was named to Super Lawyers in Florida. Mr. Berman graduated from the University of Kansas in 1997 Golden Key and as a member of Alpha Kappa Delta. He received his J.D. cum laude in 2000 from Georgetown University Law Center.
Mr. Herman clerked for the Honorable Paul S. Diamond in the U.S. District Court in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania before joining Zuckerman Spaeder. He was honored with the 2013 Outstanding Achievement Award, Washington Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs. Mr. Herman graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Tulane University in 2004, and received his J.D. with distinction in 2007 from Stanford Law School.
